St Vincent de Paul
The SVDP group donated $500 to the Bathurst Tucker Van. This amount was part of the money raised from this year's Easter Egg raffle tickets. Also, our generous Year 10 ladies have willingly been providing warm food and slices on Fridays for three worthy causes - The Men's Shed, The Tuckervan and the Refugee Group. The members appreciate it very much and highly thank the girls. Anyone is welcome to participate in this hospitality. Our Year 11 friends have willing agreed to volunteer on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays from 6-8pm in providing food for our Bathurst Tucker Van.
The next activity that we are involved in is making "welcome hampers" for the Women's Refuge Centre. We are collecting toothpaste, towels, toiletries, and some items that you would take with you if you had to leave your house in an emergency. We welcome any donations from families. The donations can be dropped into the College Office.
Students' donations will be collected during roll.
Our other activity is the lunch-time scrap booking that will be commencing soon. The thought is to organise stylish scrapbooks for the refugees.
The SVDP group thankyou for your generosity and participation.
We are looking forward to your charitable donations.

Kelly Richey Band Music - Rhythm and Blues, Rock
Buoyed by critical praise and fiercely loyal fans, The Kelly Richey Band tours extensively, bringing their electric live experience to venues throughout the US. The attention surrounding this power trio has centered on female lead guitarist Kelly Richey and her dynamic stage show and has earned her comparisons to Jimi Hendrix and Stevie Ray Vaughan while gaining her a place on stage with blues legends, Albert King and Lonnie Mack. The experience provided by The Kelly Richey Band is an absolute stand-out on the club circuit: unlike any
ensembles have been entered. Please check the table to ensure that you are aware of performance times.

other act on the scene today. What sets Kelly Richey apart is the passion of her live performance as she explodes on stage. Being hailed as "Jimi Hendrix trapped in a woman's body with Janis Joplin screaming to get out", Kelly lures every audience into the fire with her guitar as she cranks out searing leads, throws her guitar behind her head and later, grabs the closest beer bottle to play slide. Equal to her guitar slinging abilities are Richey's uninhibited, yet polished vocals. With a timeless sound and phenomenal talent, The Kelly Richey Band will indulge and impress any music lover and leave them wanting more. "...Such adventurous extrapolations are exactly what's required if the blues genre is going to have anything new to say in the next century." -LA Weekly "...She makes her guitar alternately weep, wail and scream, while vocally it's hard to miss the large dose soul seeping from nearly every note that escapes her lips." -Cincinnati City Beat http://kellyrichey.com/ The above information was found at www.girlmusician.com
Featured Musician
As musicians we are always seeking inspiration. As female musicans we should strive to seek out role models and musicians who may inspire us to bigger and better things. We have many fine musicians at MacKillop. There are also girls out there who choose not to be involved. This information is provided for everybody who wants to consider the musical talents, life stories, struggles and success of female musicians. I hope it encourages those in our community who play an instrument as well as those who play but are yet to come forward at school. Take the time to check these musicians out and remember we want you to be involved in the musical life of the College.
Jeans for Genes Day at MacKillop College
On Friday 27 July the students and staff of MacKillop College managed to raise $725 in an effort to contribute to future medical research for sick children in Australia. Organised through the Community Service Group, Pro Life, this is
not only a very worthy cause which affects many in our community, but is also a fun day where students get into the spirit by wearing their jeans to school. Being able to think of others and give generously for them, reflects on the fine sense of justice that the individuals have at MacKillop.
The Pro Life Committee, a small and committed band of quiet achievers who, like Mary MacKillop, see a need and do something about it, worked with enthusiasm to make the day the success it was.
We are also proud to announce our new Committee. Nicole Mifsud is our President, Tarah Arrow, Naomi Sherley and Chloe Walker are our Vice Presidents and the Active Members are Sharna Aisake, Elise Bourke, Stacie Caslick, Claire Delfs, Ruth Ford, Jessica Gardner, Elizabeth Rehling and Alyce Wright.
We will be bringing you a new fundraiser in the near future. We are also undergoing a name change, so we will keep you posted about this after our next meeting. Anyone is welcome to our meetings so listen in messages for your chance to get involved if you aren't already.
Congratulations, MacKillop College for your kindness towards others.
